Unicaf University students and staff participated in the “Mother’s Day Fun Run”, held in Blantyre on the 7th of October, in aid of the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and its 26 Health Centres in Blantyre District. Unicaf University has donated 1 million Kwacha to the charity event, which has managed this year to raise a record 88 million Kwacha, which will go towards the purchase of medical equipment and supplies for the Hospital and its Health Centres in Blantyre. Unicaf University Malawi (UUMA) Campus staff, headed by the University’s Rector Professor Kuthemba Mwale, visited new mothers and their infants at the Bwaila District Hospital’s Maternity Unit in Lilongwe, at the beginning of March 2017, bearing special gifts. For this UUMA action of corporate social responsibility, 60 packages were delivered to an equal number of new mums recovering from labour at the hospital.
